Omagh CBS Through To Rannafast Quarter Finals.
Omagh CBS qualified for the quarter finals of this year’s Rannafast Cup competition following a four point win over Newry kingpins St Colmans on a score line of 0-11 to 0-7. They will now meet their neighbours and rivals St Pats Dungannon in the knock out stages.
It was a far from easy win for Omagh as Colmans began strongly and opened up an early two point lead. However The Brothers settled and a brace of scores from Padraig Mc Girr brought the sides level. Omagh then hit something of a purple patch with three fine points courtesy of Aiden Fullerton, a free kick from Andrew McGrath and a 45 from Padraig McGirr to lead 0-5 to 0-2.The Newry lads rallied and showed considerable character as they dominated the last ten minutes of the half scoring three consecutive points to go in level at half time.
St Colmans began the second half strongly and kicked the first score of the second half. That score seemed to spur Omagh into action as they kicked into gear with points from half backs Eoghain Murray and Tiarnan Mc Namee. Further scores from Padraig McGirr, Aiden McSorley, Andrew McGrath and Aiden Fullerton put Omagh in total control as they moved 11 points to 6 in front. Colmans had lots of possession in the last 10 minutes but failed to convert their possession into scores thanks to strong defensive displays by James Darcy and Eoghain Murray. The Newry school registered their second score of the half with time up on the clock but Omagh made it through to the quarter finals convincingly.
