Under 16 Wins For Drumragh and Dromore

Near neighbours Drumragh and Dromore made the short run to Ballinamullen on Sunday afternoon for their winner takes all clashes with Owen Roes and Newtownstewart respectively. IMG_1358 Drumragh took on Owen Roes in the championship final while Dromore faced Newtown in the league semi final. Dromore and Newtown served up a rip roaring game that went to extra time before an Emmett Mc Nabb inspired Dromore side prevailed 4-13 to 4-7. IMG_1360 Drumragh captured their first youth championship title in years with a gutsy 2-13 to 1-9 win over a highly fancied Owen Roes side. IMG_1364 The wind played a significant part in both games but Drumragh showed great determination to hold Owen Roes to a gap of only three point at the break. Ryan Devine was the catalyst for most of the North Tyrone side’s best work but Drumragh matched Owen Roes every step of the way with Shane Devine, Michael Mullan and Andrew Colgan superb for the Sarsfields. The half time score read 1-7 to 1-4 in favour of Owen Roes. IMG_1366 Drumragh began the second half in impressive form and were soon level following scores from Dara O’Kane and Shane Devine (2). The Sarsfields defence found itself stretched but they stood firm and restricted Owen Roes to only two points in an entertaining second period. Shane Devine, Dara O’Kane and Rory Lynch got the scores that ensured Drumragh took the title to Clanabogan on  a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-9. IMG_1369
