Moy Defeat Beragh In League Playoff
Saturday 04.11.2023

Moy bounced back from last week’s championship defeat to get the better of Beragh in the Division 1/2 promotion playoff 1-9 to 0-9. However they were made to fight all the way by a very determined Beragh team who led by four points at one stage.
Conor Owens gave the Red Knights the perfect start with a brace of points inside the opening five minutes. Beragh went four ahead with scores from Mattie Mc Sorley and Owens again but the home side failed to score again until fifteen minutes into the second half.
Moy took a while to settle but a fine individual goal from Michael Conroy after sixteen minutes got them started and they added points from Ryan Coleman, Paddy Lavery and Conroy again to go in at the break leading 1-3 to 0-4.
Defences remained on top throughout the game as both sides struggled to create clear scoring chances. Moy did add points from Declan and Ryan Conroy and when Ryan Coleman made it a five point lead it appeared to be all over for Beragh. However as the game entered the final quarter Ben Mc Sorley and Martin Rodgers fired over points to give their side hope.
With nine minutes remaining a breakaway move from Moy finished with a point from Jamie Coleman to leave four between them but Beragh reduced the gap to two following scores from Paddy Mc Cann and a super score from Martin Rodgers. Both sides had chances to add to their scoring tally but as the game entered injury time Moy midfielder Stevie Donaghy stretched his team’s lead to three. Beragh responded with another Martin Rodgers score but it was Moy who finished the game strongly with an excellent Ryan Coleman point to leave the final score 1-9 to 0-9 in favour of Moy,
