Moy 1-10 Rock 0-12

Colm Cavanagh proved to be the Moy hero with a brilliant winning point with the last kick of the game as they edged out a Rock side who gave everything at O’Neill Park on Sunday afternoon.

Michael Conroy and Liam Nugent twice exchanged points early on before Matthew Laverty and Ryan Coleman combined for defender Patrick Lavery to palm in a 12th minute goal. Rock though responded by landing the next five points of the contest through Mark McAleer and a trio of superb scores from Nugent before impressive midfielder Shane Murphy landed a beauty. Conroy knocked over a brace of frees either side of a quality effort from play from Rock full back Thomas Mackle to leave the St.Patricks leading 0-8 to 1-4 at the short whistle.

Conroy and Murphy traded points from frees on the resumption  before the former edged Moy bac in front. Good work from Diarmaid Carroll set up Aidan McGarrity for the lead again only for another free from GO man of the match Conroy to level matters with ten to play. Two more efforts from placed balls from Conroy took his personal haul to 0-9 but back came Rock with a brilliant effort with the outside of the boot from Shea Daly before Nugent’s fifth of the game and his fourth from play levelled matters. It looked set for a replay but after Rock had hit a wide in injury time Moy won it right at the end with an outstanding effort from Cavanagh with his weaker left foot.
