Eglish captain Ciara Donnelly hit 2-9 as her Armagh side powered to the Ulster Intermediate Camogie title today at Armagh. A 3-7 blitz in the second quarter laid the foundations for the hosts and they never looked in danger after that.

The Tyrone girls were in touch with Armagh for the opening seventeen minutes and the sides were level three times despite Donnelly’s first goal, a free from all of 45 metres. However as the Eglish player rattled in goal number two on twenty minutes and Armagh added a further 2-7 it looked worrying for Deidre Fitzgerald’s side. Emma McAliskey had hit three good points for Tyrone during that opening spell as Niamh McNulty, Oonagh O’Neill and Kelley Fay added to their tally but it was Armagh who were playing like potential champions.

Donnelly was inspirational for the winners. She hit long range points from all over the park while Rachael Merry hit 2-1 in that second quarter. Ciara Hill also found her range as Tyrone struggled to get a grip on proceedings and trailed 4-9 to 0-7 at the break.

Armagh started the second half where they had left off with three early points but to their credit Tyrone hit 2-2 themselves in their best spell of the game.

Kelley Fay took a great pass from McAliskey before finding the net and Derrylaughan’s McAliskey herself found the net moments later. She and McNulty also landed points but hopes of a revival were short lived with the Armagh defence outstanding.

At the other end Michelle McGuigan hit another goal as Donnelly and Hall kept the umpires busy with white flags. The quality of the opposition eventually took its toll on the Tyrone girls and they failed to score again in the contest. A sixth Armagh goal followed from Ciara Hayes ended the scoring on a disappointing day for Tyrone.
