4 In A Row For Masters

Tyrone 4-8 Roscommon 0-9
Tyrone went into this Masters Final at Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday afternoon as favourites and they full justified that tag with a superb display from start to finish that their opponents Roscommon simply couldn’t live with. The Red Hands were on top throughout the field as they made it four in a row and no doubt the preparations from the management team will soon begin for the 2025 season!
Mark Donnelly fired to the net after only three minutes to strike an early blow to Roscommon’s hopes and the holders went on to lead 2-5 to 0-4 at halftime despite having played against the wind. Michael Anderson, Barry Daly, Leo Meenan and Damian Kelly were the point scorers with Ger Heneghan and Sean Fahy on target for Roscommon. The highlight of the first half was a brilliant pass from Stephen O’Neill to set up Anderson for Tyrone’s second goal in the 18th minute, everybody in the crowd thinking that the man of the match was going for a point before picking out Anderson for an easy finish.
There was no let up from Tyrone in the second half and it was a measure of their display in defence as well that Roscommon managed just two points from play over the course of the sixty odd minutes. Fahy and Heneghan had further points but Tyrone kept the scoreboard ticking over with scores from Meenan and O’Neill, the latter picking out Meenan with the pass of the game to create a goal chance. The third goal did arrive when the team Captain Conor Gormley perhaps showed that he was a forward all these years with a finish that any attacker would have been proud off. A fine all round display was capped in the closing stages with another well taken goal this time from Martin Taggart as Tyrone won with plenty to spare.
