Grade 1 Minor League Final

Carrickmore 5-9  Errigal Ciaran 0-8

Carrickmore ended Errigal Ciaran’s hopes of back to back minor league and championship doubles on Tuesday night as they turned in a superb display to seal a 5-9 to 0-8 win at Tattyreagh in a very exciting final.

Errigal came into the tie on the back of an excellent championship campaign but they had no answer to a well organised and disciplined Carrickmore. Right through their side they had leaders, they were effective up front and never allowed Errigal to get a foothold.

Anna Sweeney hit a brace of goals , Caitlin Gormley, Sorcha Gormley and team captain Meabh Mc Callan were also among the goals as Carrickmore secured a memorable victory.

Leading 1-8 to 0-2 by the break and inspired by  Mc Callan, Sweeney and Sorcha Gormley, Carrickmore bossed the contest. Maire Slane and Eimear Mc Garrity impressed at the back as Errigal’s attack found the going tough.

Early second half goals from Sweeney and youngster Gormley nudged Carmen further ahead and they maintained their control on the tie despite the best efforts of Michaela Moore, Ciara and Aoife Quinn and Hannah Mc Girr.
