Abbey Deny All Tyrone Final
Sunday 25.01.2026
Omagh CBS 0-15 Abbey CBS 1-14
Abbey CBS ensured that there would be no all Tyrone final in this year’s MacRory Cup when they produced a strong second half display at Fintona on Sunday evening to edge out Omagh CBS.
Omagh were into their stride early on with a brilliant brace of two pointers from Thomas Meenan giving them the early advantage. Full forward Diarmuid Martin was also on target but the outstanding Diarmuid O’Rourke responded with two orange flags as four of the opening five scores came from outside the arc. O’Rourke exchanged points with Cathal Farley and Michael McNamee to leave the sides level. In the closing stages of the half though James Maguire, McNamee and Peter Colton all found the range for Omagh to leave them leading 0-10 to 0-6.
Within sixty seconds of the restart the Newry school won a penalty which Charlie McGrath confidently converted. Harley Patton and Ryan O’Hare scored for their respective sides before a 3rd two pointer from O’Rourke gave Abbey a lead that they were never to lose. Daniel Carr hit a single as well as a two pointer with O’Rourke on target again as Abbey moved five clear. Cathal Farley raised a while flag and Martin got a two pointer but late pressure from Omagh saw them come up just short.
