St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon 1-10 St Dominic’s Cabra 0-7St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon are the All Ireland Camogie champions following a six point win over Dublin side St Dominic’s Cabra in Cavan on Saturday evening.

Despite playing with the wind advantage in the opening 30 minutes the Academy only lead 1-6 to 0-5 at the break.  The fact that the Dublin side didn’t score again is testimony to the efforts on a brilliant St Patrick’s Academy defence.

Edendork’s Lára Devlin added a point in the 40th minute, ten minutes later Reagan Fay pointed a free and then in the third minute of injury time the player that started the scoring an hour earlier, Francine Farley, completed it to set off wild celebrations in the Tyrone camp.

The second half may not have been full of free flowing camogie but that won’t annoy the Dungannon ladies who played as a superb unit backed up the calming influence of Emma Donnelly in goals.  The scoring started with Francine Farley opening the scoring in the fifth minute.  Reagan Fay added two frees before Lára Devlin fired in the only goal of the game in the 12th minute.

That sparked a response from Cabra with Jody Couch opening their scoring a minute later.  While Reagan Fay responded with two points and Rachel O’Neill another, St Dominic’s seemed to be growing into the game and were well placed at 1half time.  However the Academy’s defensive could not be broken and the Academy side made history to annex the All Ireland C title for 2020.
