St.Patrick’s Academy Dungannon crashed out of this season’s Danske Bank MacRory Cup when they were beaten by St.Macartan’s Monaghan in a playoff at Emyvale on Saturday afternoon. Luke Ferguson, Mark Donnelly and Nathan Connolly had first half points but the Academy trailed 0-5 to 0-3 at the break. They then fell four behind on the restart before they rallied to close the gap to the minimum thanks to points from Ben Gormley, Oran Mallon and Ferguson. They looked the better side at this stage but the Monaghan lads then grabbed two quick goals from Conor McCrystal and Ryan O’Toole and while Donnelly got a late major it didn’t matter as the Academy lost 2-8 to 1-7.
