Academy Into Semi Finals
Thursday 09.11.2023

St.Patricks Academy Dungannon justified their favourites tag to qualify for the semi finals of the Rannafast Cup but they were pushed all the way by St.Marys Magherafelt at Stewartstown on Thursday afternoon before going through on a 2-9 to 2-7 scoreline.
The Academy dominated early on in terms of possession and that was reflected on the scoreboard with Lorcan McMurray landing four points and Joel Kerr bagging a brilliant individual goal in the 17th minute. Dungannon led 1-5 to 0-2 at one stage but the Derry school rallied as halftime approached with a Ronan Ferris goal in the 26th minute being followed by a Cathair McBride point to cut the deficit to two at the short whistle.
Five minutes into the second half St.Marys took the lead thanks to a deflected goal from Ronan Birt. Rian McIvor and Michael Higgins traded points before Dara Devlin found the net for the Academy in the 41st minute. Devlin and McLarnon exchanged points before Kerr had the final say from a 45 after Sean Og Quinn had denied Devlin with a superb save.
