Academy Make Casement Cup Final.
Tuesday 25.10.2011

St Patrick’s Academy overcame La Salle Belfast to reach their first ever Casement Cup final today. The match was played at Clonmore after Doiretreasc’s pitch was deemed unplayable. Academy led 0-05 to 0-03 at half time but conceded an early second half goal to trail by one. They kept battling away however and picked off their points in the second half leaving the final score Academy 0-14, La Salle 1-05.
Academy scorers: Damian Casey 0-6, Tiernan Morgan 0-5, Richard Kelly 0-2, Patrick McCusker 0-1.
Once again the entire defence played a huge part in this win with impressive displays from 1 to 7 but particularly outstanding performances today from Ruairi Devlin at full back and Eamonn Gough Duffin at centre half back.
The final will take place on Friday night in Casement Park against St Patrick’s High School Keady. This is the Academy’s first appearance in the final of this competition having narrowly lost out to Keady at the semi-final stage last year.
