Buncrana Cup
Tyrone 3-14 Donegal 1-4

Tyrone U16’s travelled to Convoy in the second round of the Buncrana cup competition hoping for a win after narrowly losing to Mayo in the opening day fixtures.  The Tyrone side was bolstered by the return from injury of St Patricks Academy Oisin McGrath cup winner Rian Mc Ivor and Dean Maguirc’s Finbar Donnelly.

Following a minutes silence to remember the victims of the recent A5 fatalities Adam Cushnahan, Derrylaughan’s midfield powerhouse, opened the scoring with a 45.  That score was followed up soon after with a goal following a sweeping move involving Ross Daly, Seán Óg Teague and great work from Shea Mc Dermott.

Further points followed from the boot of Davinn Mc Keown, Eoin Mansell, Peter Mc Goldrick and Shea Munroe.  Some excellent kickouts from Aidan Hackett provided the team with a platform to play football, to go on the offensive and to lead the game by 5 points at the break.

The second half started strong for the O’Neill county with an early brace of scores from Clonoe’s Mansell and Beragh’s Darragh McKenna. The gap was further increased when Sean Og Teague finished low to the corner and following great defensive work, Carrickmore’s Sheamais Munroe finished off a great move with another 3 pointer.

A strong finish for the O’Neill county saw Lorcán Martins men finish with a well earned win on a score line of 3-14 to 1-04.
