Carrickmore qualified for the 2015 Division One league final following a very competitive and entertaining semi -final clash against Dromore. Played in splendid conditions on a perfect pitch before a large and appreciative set of spectators the Carmen men showed they are still a force to be reckoned with.

The game was played at championship pace throughout with Carrickmore’s more direct style always looking the more threatening. The St Colmcille’s opened up a three points to one lead after eight minutes with sores from Conor Gormley, Barry Daly and Martin Penrose. However with Niall Sludden and Eoin Mc Cusker increasingly prominent Dromore came more into the game and reached the break leading 0-7 to 0-5. Indeed Mc Cusker finished the first half with four points to his credit after an impressive showing.

Gavan Mc Elroy’s side began the second half in explosive fashion and were level inside two minutes following fine scores from Paul Mc Aleer and Martin Penrose. Once again Dromore responded well and enjoyed their most productive spell in the game. Points from Niall Sludden and Colm Mc Cullagh followed by a goal from wing back Tommy Mc Carron put the blues five clear and in pole position. However rather than push on for the win Dromore sat back and invited their opponents onto them. A series of turnovers cost the home side dearly as Mark Donnelly scored a superb goal before Carrickmore landed the final four points of the game to come from three behind and win by one on a final score of Carrickmore 1-11, Dromore 1-10.

Carrickmore will now meet Clonoe O’Rahillys in the league final following their fine win over Errigal Ciaran in the other semi-final.
