League champions find a way to win games no matter what position they find themselves in. If Dromore are to regain the Division 1 title this year then they’ll look back on wins like the one they had today in Cookstown. With 56 minutes on the clock Dromore found themselves a point behind after failing to score in the second half. Step up Sean O’Neill(2 frees) and Colm McCullagh who scored a point followed by a penalty to ease to a somewhat flattering five point win. Cookstown 0-7 Dromore 1-9
Errigal Ciaran were three points ahead at the break in Eglish thanks to four first half points from county man Peter Harte. Peter McCann fired over three points for the home side. Eglish had a player sent off in the second half which didn’t help their cause as goals from Harte and Darren Canavan sealed the victory for the visitors. Final score Eglish 0-8 Errigal Ciaran 2-11
Shane Mulgrew and Richard Heatherington shared 0-7 between them as Donaghmore secured both leagues points away to Derrylaughan. Dan Toner also goaled for the St Patrick’s men. In the second period Ciaran Quinn started the fight back with a goal for Derrylaughan and there were points from the Gervin brothers Liam and Ciaran. However a Niall McKenna goal ended the hopes of the Kevin Barry’s as they suffered their sixth league defeat of the season.
Killyclogher continued their recent revival with a narrow hard fought win over Moy. There were two points in it at the end 1-7 to 1-5 in favour of the home side. Killyclogher had to survive an aerial bombardment late in the game as a Sean Cavanagh inspired Moy went in search of the goal that would have won the game for them. However it was not to be and the home side held on for two vital points in their quest to move away from the relegation places. Killyclogher looked well placed coming up to the break leading six points to two when a late foray from Moy resulted in a scrambled goal for Peter Mallon to leave a single point between the sides at the break. Simon O’Neill, Conor Meenan and Dermot Carlin were on target for the home team while Moy’s scoring threat came mostly from Peter Mallon. Two second half points from Sean Cavanagh helped to draw the sides level and with Moy playing with the wind they looked well placed for a win. However Barry Mc Aleer popped up with a goal for his team, who finished the game with fourteen men and this score proved the difference in the end as the home side hung on for the win.
Meanwhile Omagh St. Enda’s looked on course for two points as they led Greencastle 1-6 to 0-3 at the break in Sunday’s late throw in game. The key score came in the 25th minute when Keith Burns was fouled . Up stepped Ronan O’Neill to send the resultant penalty to the net. Among the other scorers for Omagh were Conor O’Donnell, Cathal Mc Carron and Conan Grugan while former county minor John Mc Cullagh got all three points for Greencastle. The second half saw Omagh continue to dominate possession with Joe Mc Mahon in fine form at centre back and a second goal for them from the foot of Conor O’Donnell. With less than six minutes left St. Enda’s led by six points and looked home and hosed but Greencastle kept plugging away and points from John Mc Cullagh, Barry Mc Garvey and Mark Cason left just three between them as the clock ticked towards sixty minutes. Greencastle’s pressure resulted in a line ball which top scorer John Mc Cullagh lobbed towards the Omagh square and up rose Enda Clarke to fist the ball to the net to rescue a point for the Castle and send Sean Teague and his team home with a share of the spoils. The final score read Omagh 2-9, Greencastle 1-12.
