It was bragging rights for Dromore as they defeated their great rivals Trillick 2-11 to 1-3 following a much improved second half showing. After a largely forgettable first half Dromore reached the short whistle leading 1-5 to 1-1 with both teams goals coming from the penalty spot. Nial Gormley found the net for the Reds while veteran Colm Mc Cullagh converted Dromore’s spot kick. The home side saw Eoin Mc Cusker black carded in the first period but that failed to disrupt their rhythm after the restart as they eased to an eleven point victory.
Errigal Ciaran are now fifth in ACL Division 1 with a game in hand after they recorded a four point win over Dungannon in Dunmoyle. They had a dream start to the game when Bryan Horisk goaled inside the opening minute. They were ahead 1-7 to 0-6 at the break with Ryan Lynch slotting four first half points for Errigal while Paul McElroy and Matthew Walsh both kicked 0-2 apiece for the Clarkes. After the break Tommy Canavan hit 0-3 for Errigal while Damian McDermot was also on target for the winners. Matthew Walsh added another two points to his tally and Paul McElroy converted a late penalty for Dungannon.
Carrickmore join Errigal in fifth place tonight after they travelled to Augher and came away with a six point win. Mark Donnelly fired home the Carrickmore goal in the opening thirty minutes and they had points from Martin Penrose, Finbar Magill and Conor Gormley. Daire Kavanagh and Daire Donnelly were on target for Augher in the first half. Kavanagh fired home an early goal for Augher after the break but a second goal from Mark Donnelly and another from Niall Loughran eased Carrickmore clear. Augher man Declan Connolly got a consolation goal for Augher late on.
Omagh made it five wins from seven starts when they overcame Killyclogher at Healy Park today. The St Enda’s side were 0-7 to 0-3 up at half time with Ciaran McLaughlin, Conan Grugan and Ruairi McBride on the scoresheet for them and Leo Meenan kicking 0-2 for the visitors. Conor O’Donnell kicked 0-4 for Omagh after the restart and Ruairi McBride added 0-2 while Leo Meenan and Simon O’Neill slotted scores for Killyclogher.
Donaghmore and Strabane served up a six goal thriller on Sunday afternoon before the Sigersons headed back down the road with a 3-15 to 3-8 win. It was the North Tyrone side that made the better start with Brian Breslin, Warner Mullan and JP Gallagher in good form during an entertaining first half. Strabane reached the break 0-10 to 0-3 in front but found themselves a point behind after twelve second half minutes following a brace of Donaghmore goals from Matthew Mc Gahan and Shea Hamill.
It was the home side that now had the momentum and playing with the wind looked the team most likely to push for the win. However Strabane dug deep and Aaron Mc Laughlin scored a super goal to put his team ahead again. Both sides added late goals but Strabane had managed to land four points as well in the closing ten minutes to take the win and move onto six points. As for Donaghmore they still await their first league win of the season.
Clonoe made it seven wins out of seven in division one thanks to a six point success away to Eglish. PJ Lavery got the only goal of the game and also added to points while Martin Hughes raised the white flag on six occasions for the visitors. Sean McKillion top scored for Eglish with four points with Philip Barker and Mark Donnelly also on target.
Kyle Coney, Brian McGuigan and Michael O’Neill scored thirteen points between them with Kevin O’Neill [2] and Tommy McGuigan both finding the net as Ardboe secured an easy win over Moy at the Loughshore. Karol McQuade got a couple of points for Moy with Donal Jordan also on target on an afternoon to forget for the visitors.
