Drumragh entertained championship specialists Brackaville and found the pace and goal scoring ability of the Owen Roes too hot to handle. The Sarsfields began well but goals from Dale Mc Sorley, Sean Mc Nally, Che O’Donnell and Joe Rafferty sealed the win for Brackaville. Shane Devine (1-1), Gareth Starrs (4) and Cathal Gallagher (3) were on target for a disappointed Drumragh side.

Dregish recorded their first win of the season on Sunday when they defeated Killyman 4-16 to 3-5. Cathal Rodgers was once again his team’s top scorer with 3-1 on a day when Pete Mc Crossan (1-0), Tony Quinn (5), David O’Reilly (4), Martin Bonnar (2) and Niall O’Kane (2) also managed to find their shooting boots. Killyman carried little scoring threat up front and were heavily reliant on Mickey Donnelly (2-0), and Enda Mc Gahan (1-3) for scores.

Table toppers Aghaloo defeated Newtownstewart 3-14 to 1-9 with Ruairi and Jody Mc Glone bagging three goals between them. Niall Mc Elroy (5), Conor Mullen (2) and Tiernan Donnelly (2) were also among the scores as the O’Neills cantered to another league win.

Beragh hit form against Glenelly with Eddie Molloy leading the way. Molloy bagged six first half points as the Red Knights reached the break 0-7 to 0-2 in front. Glenelly raised the pace after the break and levelled the game following a goal and a converted 45 from Seamus Harkin. However four second half points from Paul Owens made sure the points went to a resurgent Red Knights side.

Castlederg entertained Championship semi finalists Tattyreagh at home on Sunday in a game that they had to win in order to kick-start their season. Playing in a kit that carried the signature of recently deceased club stalwart Jo Lynch the Derg men produced a display that did Jo’s memory proud.

Both teams produced some excellent attacking football in the first half with the Derg’s ability to convert their goal scoring chances proving vital. Paddy Lynch bagged two majors in the opening period with Ronan Devine, Mark Corry and Conor Mc Callion all landing points. Despite being behind at the break Tattyreagh were very much in the game with James Darcy, Eoghan Murray and Oisin Mullan leading the way for the visitors.

Tattyreagh enjoyed the upper hand in the second half but Mark Corry, who was outstanding for the Derg , landed three huge scores at key times to help his team take the points. The Tatts worked a quick free late in the game that was finished to the net by Duncan Hyndman and caused a few nervous moments for the home side. However, the final whistle sounded and Castlederg ran out 2-10 to 1-11 winners.

Owen Roes’ hopes of reaching the divisional play offs in Junior football remain alive thanks to a decent showing in their penultimate away fixture at Clogher at the weekend. The visitors were always in control thanks to Brendan Boggs’ 20th minute goal with the weeekend’s results causing a log jam with four teams- Castlederg, Brackaville, Owen Roes and Glenelly- just off leaders Aghaloo in the table.

A Ciaran Shields placed score clicked the score board into action on 4 minutes, but that was quickly cancelled by a Cathal McShane effort from play. MarcMcConnell and McShane traded further blows before the games first goal chance.

Eamon McBride’s shot was blocked down for a 45, which was subsequently knocked over by Ryan McShane. Shields and Cathal McShane traded dead balls before Owen Roes got their only goal of the day.

A slick passing move involving Ronan Parker, Michael Dooher and McShane left Brendan Boggs in on goal and he gave the move the finish it deserved. McShane tagged on another free, before Ronan Parker blazed over with a goal chance on.

Back game Clogher, with a well taken Barry McKenna score, before they goaled back. The ‘other’ Barry McKenna was through on goal popping it over to Martin Shortt who palmed to the goal.

Andy Devine was sprung from the bench and pointed almost straight away for Owen Roes, with Michael Dooher’s surging run and shot a few seconds later keeping Owen Roes ahead.

Shields added another free kick, but the O’Neills ended the half strong and a well measured Devine pass gave Seamus Dooher a score which was added to by McShane’s free conversion.

Any hint of a Clogher come back was extinguished early in the second period as the Leckpatrick outfit rattled off the half’s first four scores.

A McShane free, and a Seamus Dooher effort give them the momentum, with a great Parker pass allowing Michael Dooher in for another. Another McShane free on 42 minutes made the lead nine points.

Clogher did keep up the fight, and scores from Shields, and Marc McConnell ensured Owen Roes could not take nothing for granted. It was too little too late though with the only two scores of the last quarter being shared between McShane (Free) and another Shields effort.
