Aghaloo continue to lead way in Division 3
Saturday 04.06.2011

Aghaloo still lead at the top of Division Three following a very comfortable win over a disappointing Tattyreagh last night. Gerard Mc Caughey and leading scorer Stephen Donnelly got the goals for the winners as they claimed victory on a 2-13 to 0-5 score line, the hosts finishing the game with fourteen men.
Brocagh returned to winning ways with a 2-9 to 0-7 victory at home to Dregish with Cathal Donnelly scoring both goals for the Emmetts who remain just behind the league leaders. Errigal Ciaran Thirds had a good win away to Brackaville with former county minor Damien Mc Dermott registering 3-3 for the winners while goals from Peter Tierney and James Nugent helped Carrickmore Thirds claim only their second victory of the season at the expense of bottom of the table Owen Roes.
Cathal Nicholas hit an impressive eleven points as Glenelly saw off the challenge of a Derryresk side who are going through a sticky patch after winning their opening five games of the sesaon. Meanwhile Clogher made the long run to Castlederg for a game which saw the home side outscore their opponents fourteen times to nine. Unfortunately for John Lynch’s side four of Clogher’s scores were goals and they travelled home three point winners on a score of 0-14 to 4-5. Star of the show for the Eire Ogs was full forward Barry McKenna who grabbed all four of their goals.
Drumragh lost out to Beragh this afternoon in a game where they were well in it until Beragh scored their second goal of the game shortly after half time. The teams had been level at the break 0-6 to 1-3 with Beragh’s Dan Boyle getting his side’s goal when he pulled on a rebound from the Drumragh keeper. Beragh were the better side in the second half but the final result of 0-9 to 2-7 is somewhat flattering to the Red Knights. Drumragh missed several good chances of scores during the game and a five point defeat does not reflect just how close the game was. Drumragh scorers : Martin Taggart 0-4, Shane Cleary 0-1,Gavin Quinn 0-2, Gareth Haughey 0-2 while Beragh’s goals came from Dan Boyle and Aidan Kelly. The winners points came from Martin Rogers, Sean Mc Mahon and Eddie Molloy.
In this evening’s other game Dungannon produced an excellent team display to beat Fintona 3-17 to 1-10. The home side were on top throughout and led 1-10 to 0-5 at the break with their goal coming from Patrick Quinn while Shane Treanor helped himself to four points. The second half saw goals from team captain Padraig Mc Nulty and substitute Sean Burns while Kiefer Morgan took his tally for the day to four points. This win keeps the Clarkes very much in the hunt for top spot.
