Aghaloo 3-16 Brackaville 3-11

Aghaloo set up a Grade Three Tyrone Minor Football championship showdown against Loughmacrory, when overcoming the challenge of Brackaville, in a semi final goal fest, at Coalisland this evening.

The border students were full value for their win on a night Niall McElroy tormented the Roes defence on his way to a personal tally of 1-8. Brackaville actually supplied the first three points of the contest with Conor Stock the chief marksmen before Jody McGlone slotted home a penalty to help Aghaloo into a 1-1 to 0-3 lead.

Sean Day and Eoghan Loughran managed further Brackaville points, but goals from the influential McElroy and Matthew McNamee saw Aghaloo entering the break enjoying a commanding 3-9 to 0-6 lead.

Brackaville conceded the first score of the second half before battling their way back into contention as they outscored Aghaloo 2-2 to 0-1 over the following fifteen minutes. Stock and Day added points and after Ciaran Drummond fired home a goal, Sean Day powered through for a second major to leave the score reading 2-8 to 3-11.

Aghaloo refused to panic and rattled off four successive points through Jimmy Cuddy, McElroy and Oisin Gildernew before the Roes came with another late surge. Day bagged his second goal for a 2-5 contribution with Shea Fee converting a 45 before Stock’s fourth point of the evening concluded the scoring.

Brackaville reflecting on several glaring goal misses, when they were on top, as Aghaloo progressed to a meeting against Loughmacrory.
