Aghyaran 4-8 Fr Rocks 3-9
St Davog’s and Cookstown served up a seven goal thriller at Ballinamullan in the night’s second intermediate semi-final with the St Davog’s holding out in the end to beat championship favourites Fr Rocks with Aimee Coyle contributing 1-6 for the winners.
Cookstown had dominated the first half. They enjoyed the bulk of possession yet trailed by three points at the break as Aoibhinn McHugh bagged an eighteenth minute goal and set Coyle up for her goal. Fr Rocks were wasteful and hit eight first half wides while their first goal coming from sharpshooter Aoibhinn Devlin who finished the night with 3-5 but still on the wrong side of the result.

Both goalkeepers were tested early in the second half although it was Aghyaran who pulled nine points clear with a Sasha Byrne goal and three well worked points from Coyle, Aoife Byrne and Tara McHugh helping them to Edge clear.

By the fifty third minute the gap was three. Devlin latched on a goal after great work by Sarah McNeill with three points matched by several wides as Fr Rocks took the game to the West Tyrone side.

In a frantic ending to the game Cookstown lost goalkeeper Caoimhe Meeke to a yellow card as she challenged Carolanne Byrne who got her shot to the net. To their credit Cookstown replied with 1-1 courtesy of Devlin but a battling Aghyaran held out with Ciara Logue and Aoife Byrne solid in defence and Stacey Dolan particularly impressive at midfield.
