First up at Healy Park on Sunday evening was the Intermediate Championship replay between Moy and Aghyaran. Geographically these two clubs are poles apart but for most of this replayed fixture there was little that separated them. Granted Moy did start well and led 0-4 to no score after seven minutes with their opening points coming from Declan and Michael Conroy , Patrick Mc Geary and Ryan Coleman.

Aghyaran took a while to settle with their first score coming on ten minutes courtesy of Brian Penrose. After Ryan Coleman and Eoghan Mc Hugh swapped scores the north Tyrone sides really got to the pace of the game. A well struck point from Eoghan Mc Hugh followed by a scrappy goal from Ethan Mc Hugh put Aghyaran 1-3 to 0-5 ahead before Benny Gallen landed a superb two pointer as Aghyaran moved three clear.

There was little between the sides as the game neared half time but points from Ryan Mc Alary, Ryan Coleman and Michael Conroy for the light blues and a Benny Gallen two pointer sent the sides off at the break with a point between them. Aghyaran had goalkeeper Niall Hilley to thank for finding themselves still in the contest.

An early second half point from Ryan Coleman tied the game before a huge two pointer from Ethan Mc Hugh edged the border men two in front. Michael Conroy replied to narrow the gap to one. This was followed by another Benny Gallen two pointer and Aghyaran found themselves three in front midway through the second half.

However their lead did not last long and a well worked Moy goal finished to the net by Ryan Mc Alary had the sides level once more. Eoghan Mc Hugh landed a two pointer to edge his team ahead once more before a well struck Michael Conroy effort reduced the arrears to a single point and extra time looked a real possibility. A superb stop by Aghyaran goalkeeper Hilley denied Moy a certain goal as the big keeper once again kept his team in the contest.

A converted Benny Gallen free made it a two point game but back came Moy once more as Michael Conroy landed another long range effort. Aghyaran responded with Gallen firing over another point to move ahead again. Moy continued to create chances and a late point from substitute Patrick Lavery looked to have taken the game to extra time. However Aghyaran, who, now had former Tyrone full back Ronan Mc Namee on the pitch, managed to land the winner courtesy of Diarmuid Mc Hugh.

Aghyaran edged it 1-16 to 1-5 and can now look forward to a quarter final clash with league winners Naomh Eoghan.
