An Eoghan McHugh goal in the 60th minute proved decisive as Aghyaran edged Cookstown in Healy Park, in their first round Intermediate championship encounter.
It was Aghyaran who started the better with a brace of Ronan McHugh points. Scores from Matthew Carberry and John Gilmore saw Cookstown grow in confidence. Aghyaran can look forward to meeting the winners of Moortown and Fintona, Cookstown will regret registering 14 wides.
