Division One got off to a really exciting start with some very close games and one or two surprising results. Coalisland and Dromore renewed their rivalry at Fr Campbell Park and it took a late point from former county player Colm Mc Cullagh to rescue a draw for the visitors. Carrickmore had a goal to spare in a 1-8 to 0-8 win at home to Clonoe. Eglish got their season off to a great start with a hard fought win away at local rivals Donaghmore. Fellow promoted sides from last year Derrylaughan and Moortown had mixed fortunes as the Kevin Barry’s surprisingly held Ardboe to a draw at Coney Park. The St Malachy’s suffered a six point defeat to Omagh in a game that saw county player Joe Mc Mahon suffer a double fracture to the jaw.

In the three remaining games in the top flight Errigal Ciaran opened the defence of their League title with a convincing win over Cookstown. Trillick made a good start to their season with victory against Moy at Donnelly Park while in the remaining game of the league between Greencastle and Killyclogher neither side could do enough to win it and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
