The semi finals of the Division One All County League produced two intriguing games. The results saw Carrickmore qualify for the final following a 2-9 to 0-11 win over old rivals Dromore while Ardboe and Clonoe will have to do it all again following their 1-12 to 0-15 draw in Ardboe. Goals from county players Mark Donnelly and Martin Penrose were the decisive scores in a highly entertaining game at Gardrum Park where Carrickmore benefited greatly from their recent games with Clonoe and Cookstown. Dromore worked hard to stay in the game with Eoin Mc Cusker (0-6) and Emmett O’Neill (0-2) on target for the home side.

Those who braved the soggy conditions this afternoon to take in the Tyrone senior League semi-final between County Champions Clonoe and Ardboe, at Michael Coney Park were treated to a feast of football with nothing separating the sides after eighty minutes of action.

In the end Ardboe needed a monstrous long range free from midfielder John McConville to force a replay following an extra time roller coaster in which both teams felt they had won and lost the contest. Clonoe played the better football in the opening period with Danny McNulty kicking a number of frees as the visitors established a 7-3 half time lead.

The county champions controlled play throughout with Darryl Magee, Stephen McNulty and attacking wing back PJ Lavery posting points in response to two sublime McConville scores.

The O’Rahillys moved five clear at the start of the second period but the complexion of the game changed on 36 minutes, when Michael Hagan registered 1-1 in the space of a minute. His point coming after Clonoe goalkeeper Michael O’Neill had produced an outstanding point blank save before the former Moortown star collected a breaking ball from McConville to slot into the net.

Nishy O’Neill levelled the contest and from then to the final whistle the sides stood toe to toe. They were to be level eight different times throughout the afternoon with Ardboe showing character to recover from a 0-11 to 1-6 deficit in a dramatic conclusion. With time ticking away McNulty thought he had won it with a free but there was still time for Ardboe to conjure up the equalising free opportunity for Hagan as it finished 1-9 to 0-12.

The quality continued unabated throughout extra time and even though the Rossa’s lost Shea McGuigan to a second yellow card they greeted the half time break in front thanks to two McConville frees.

Inspirational wing back Lavery levelled it again before substitute Niall Kilpatrick looked to have won it for Clonoe. However, McConville stepped up to punish some indiscipline from the county champions as it finished all square. Thursday night’s replay will be worth taking in if today’s action is anything to go by.

In the Division Two league play-off Strabane defeated Edendork following a late late goal from Mark Devine that saw the Sigersons edge a very tight game 1-15 to 0-16. There was little between the teams throughout the match but Devine’s goal proved crucial. The border side will now go through to take on Trillick in the final play off game. The winners of that game will be playing senior football in 2014 while the losers will compete in Division Two.
