Wee Barry Leads Big Oz 4-2 At The End Of The First Day
It was 2-2 after four penalties in the 32-32-32 challenge as the lads continued their journey around Ireland. Plunkett took a 2-0 lead after Barry struck the post with his kick in Clare. However in spite of the mounting pressure the Stormont politician showed nerves of steel as he converted his kicks in Limerick and Tipperary to level the competition. By all accounts the “Failte” in Clare was absolutely fantastic and you get the impression this penalty tour is going to take on a life of its own. Who knows it might even become an inter county competition that will rival the all Ireland itself ?
The lads headed next to Ardfert in Kerry where Barry’s good run of form continued and he moved 3-2 ahead following a fine conversion of his spot kick. It was then off to the ground of St Finbarr’s in Cork where the former corner forward made it four penalties in a row to leave Big Oz wondering has the wee man got the edge over him. The first day has come to an end and Barry leads 4-2 but tonight will tell the tale as the whole group spend their first night out on the streets as they seek to share the experience of those they are trying to help with their 32-32-32 project. We will follow their endeavours tomorrow as the lads continue their travels and trials all in aid of a very worthy cause.
