TTM All Star Match 2023
TTM All Stars 4-9 Trillick 1-11
A huge crowd turned out at Trillick on Thursday to see the Division One double champions take on the Teamtalk Allstars for the Myles Mc Cann Memorial Cup.
The first half was close and competitive as Lee Brennan and James Garrity maintained their fine form. They caused all sorts of problems for the All Stars defence with some superb interlink play and clever movement. They helped the Reds into an early lead but fortunately Ronan McHugh was in goal scoring mood for the All Stars and his finishing saw the teams head off at the break tied on a score line of Trillick 1-9, TTM All Stars 3-3
Conditions were difficult for both sides, but facing the breeze in the second half, the strong wind put the Trillick defence under additional pressure. In spite of the difficulties both sides served up some entertaining football and exchanges certainly were competitive.
The swirling wind made scores hard to come by and as a result the game remained close. Points from Michael McElhatton and Ronan McHugh and a fourth All Stars goal from the diving Tony Devine sealed the win for the visitors. All Stars captain Rory Brennan was the proud recipient of the Myles McCann Memorial Cup which was presented at the conclusion of the game by Mary McCann and the McCann family.
While the All Stars won the game yesterday the big winners were the three local charities who will benefit from the takings at the gate. Care For Cancer, The Spirit of Paul Mc Girr and the local Scoliosis Society will be invited to join representatives from TTM, MFC and Trillick St Macartans at Grants Restaurant Omagh in early January when they will be presented with their cheques.
Many thanks to all who made Thursday’s game possible especially Trillick club and its members, Kit design and supply by MFC, Cathal, Mark and Garry for officiating, the players on both sides and Feargal Logan and Brian Dooher for managing the All Stars to another win.
