Ardboe will play Trillick in the quarter final of the LCC Senior championship after they had the minimum to spare in a tense encounter with Clonoe at Father Campbell Park in Coalisland on Sunday evening.

The Rossas led 0-4 to 0-2 at the end of the opening quarter with points coming from Michael Cassidy, Shay McGuigan [2] and Kyle Coney. Clonoe then took control with five points in a row from Connor McAliskey [2], Patrick Doris, Declan McClure and Colm Doris. The O’Rahillys though had keeper Mickey O’Neill to thank for a couple of good saves before a McGuigan free left it 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.

Peter O’Neill and Patrick Doris traded points on the restart before Michael Lynn reduced the deficit to the minimum. In the 40th minute Ardboe midfielder Michael O’Neill blasted the ball to the roof of the net and Coney and McGuigan tagged on points from frees. Clonoe were then dealt a blow when McAliskey was stretchered off with an ankle injury. A goal from Fintan McClure levelled matters but moments later McGuigan flicked to the net at the other end of the field. Paul Coney hit a great score from the right wing for Clonoe and McClure then knocked over a free but Ardboe held on as it finished 2-9 to 1-11.
