Last night saw a top of the table clash between Ardboe and Sperrin Og in the Intermediate league. In a game which was closely fought all the way Ardboe came out on top to win by 2 points. Sperrin Og got the opening score of the game with a point from the impressive Niamh O’Neill but Ardboe responded with a well worked goal finished by Rebekah Forbes. Both teams exchanged points and at half time it was only the goal separating them 1-6 to 0-6.
The second half was much the same with both teams fighting hard for every ball. Sperrin Og pulled a goal back midway through the second half to level the game. Kerrie Graham and Niamh O’Neill traded points a number of times in the second half to keep their respective teams in the game. The Sperrin Og goalkeeper pulled off a couple of good saves to deny Ardboe a second goal at a crucial point in the game. This seemed to galvanise the Greencastle girls who went 2 points in front with only 5 mins of normal time remaining. However Ardboe refused to give up and Kerrie Graham slotted over a free to leave one point separating the sides. Substitute Hannah Lydon levelled the game for Ardboe kicking her first from play and with the ref indicating 5 mins of additional time for injuries it was all still to play for. Ardboe dug deep and Kerrie Graham fired over another free to put Ardboe in front with time running out. Hannah Lydon fired over her second point of the night from out wide on the right to secure the victory for Ardboe and leave the final Score: Ardboe 1-13 Sperrin Og 1-11

Ardboe Scorers: Rebekah Forbes 1-3 Kerrie Graham 0-5, Maeve Wylie 0-2, Hannah Lydon 0-2, Jennifer McGuigan 0-1

Best for Ardboe were Niamh Quinn and Claire Muldoon in defence, Sarah McConville in midfield and Kerrie Graham and Rebekah Forbes up front while Niamh O’Neill was in outstanding form for the visitors.
