Augher produced a superb second half display to seal their place in the final of the 2018 LCC sponsored Tyrone Intermediate Championship defeating Stewartstown 3-15 to 2-8.

The fact that they did so without talismanic forward Aidan Cassidy speaks volumes of their hunger and character.

The first half was a nip and tuck affair with Stewartstown’s ability to create and score goals keeping them in the game. Gareth Devlin and Macauley Quinn both finished half chances to the net ensuring that there was little between the teams over the course of the opening thirty minutes.

In spite of playing with the breeze in the opening half and enjoying lots of possession Augher failed to capitalise on their chances and their cause wasn’t helped when Darragh Donnelly received a black card nine minutes from the break.

Despite playing second fiddle for long periods The Harps hit the net for the second time on thirty minutes to move two in front but Raymond and Aidan Mc Elroy added points for Augher to send the teams in all square at the break.

Augher were a much improved team after the restart with man of the match Conor Hackett leading by example and covering every inch of the Dungannon pitch. Defensively they were relentless but in attack they created and converted numerous chances with Darragh Kavanagh, Martin Mc Elhatton and Raymond Mc Elroy outstanding. Kavanagh top scored with 2-9 while Mc Elhatton and Mc Elroy hit 1-3 between them.

Stewartstown found it hard to break down the Augher defence and only managed five points over the course of the entire second half. Gareth Devlin did hit the crossbar late on but even then it would not have affected the final outcome of the game.
