Augher have once again made the final of the Grade Two Under 21 Championship after securing a 2-10 to 1-11 win over Greencastle on Friday night. The match took place under lights at Greencastle and it was the home side that started strongest with John Mc Cullagh in fine form. They had opened a 1-04 to 0-01 lead by the fifteenth minute with Augher’s sole score coming from a free in the tenth minute courtesy of Sean Hackett. Indeed the Augher attacker finished up with a personal total of 1-07 while the other goal came right at the start of the second half from the boot of Darragh Donnelly after three minutes .
Greencastle however continued to battle hard and with Cahir and John Mc Cullagh and Sean Warnock in great form they had opened up a three point lead with eleven minutes of the second half left. Augher showed great strength of character to hit the last five points of the game through Sean Hackett 0-03, Darragh Donnelly 0-01 and the final score of the match from the man with the Greencastle connections, Martin Mc Elhatton.
This two point victory means Augher are through to face the winners of Brackaville or Dungannon in the final of the Grade Two competition.
