Big League Win For Kildress
Saturday 13.08.2011

Kildress and Augher served up a very tight game this evening where very little separated the two teams throughout the hour. Kildress could well have reached half time in arrears but a fortuitous goal from Paul Treacy just before the break put them in pole position. Mind you Augher were indebted to keeper Sean Mc Elroy for his fine penalty stop ten minutes into the game. Des Treacy and Frank Mc Gurk were on target for the Wolfe Tones in the opening thirty minutes while Augher’s scores came from county man Aidan Cassidy 0-2, Jamie Donnelly 0-3 and a point from Aidan Mc Elroy. The game continued in a similar vein after the break with little between the teams. However the home side with Frank Mc Gurk in fine second half scoring form (0-4) and Damien Kelly on target with a couple did enough to edge the game by the bare minimum 1-9 to 0-11. Augher’s second half scores came from the ever reliable Jamie Donnelly 0-3 and Aidan Cassidy 0-2.
