Big Win For Tyrone Seniors
Sunday 15.02.2026
Tyrone faced Cavan on Sunday at Healy Park knowing that the losers of this game could well find themselves involved in a relegation scrap even after only three league games.
Many Tyrone supporters travelled to the game more in hope than expectation and it didn’t take long for the nerves to jangle as the Breffni men began on the front foot.
Eoin Mc Elholm opened the scoring but Cavan looked well up for the contest with their half back line of Oisin Brady, Niall Carolan and Gerard Smith causing us all sorts of problems. A mistake from a restart kick led to a goal from Tiarnan Madden and suddenly Cavan had the bit between the teeth.

Tyrone looked nervous at the back before a fast break started by Frank Burns saw the home side piling forward before finishing to the net. This was a movement of pace and accuracy and helped send Tyrone in at the break leading 2-7 to 1-6. Cavan’s Gearoid Mc Kernan and Dara Mc Veety added points for Cavan before we had the last score of the half from the boot of man of the match Darragh Canavan.
Half time score : Tyrone 2-7 Cavan 1-6
Cavan began the second half well with substitute Paddy Lynch looking sharp and purposeful but Darragh Canavan and Eoin Mc Elholm were coming more into the game for Tyrone.
The Tyrone midfield of Conn Kilpatrick and Brian Kennedy were on top around the centre of the park and provided plenty of possession to their forward unit.
The Cavan pairing of Mc Kernan and Lynch continued to be a handful for the Tyrone defence but Cormac Quinn, Aidan Clarke and Ben Cullen performed admirably as they turned Cavan over and kept the Cavan forwards mostly under control.
Tyrone were enjoying much more possession and could have been further ahead had they shown a bit more control close to goal but they finished strongly with points from Joe Oguz, Darragh Canavan, Mattie Donnelly, Conn Kilpatrick, Ethan Jordan, Eoin Mc Elholm and Michael Mc Kernan to pull away from their opponents and win comfortably 2-23 to 1-14.
