Big Wins For Brockagh And Beragh In Division Three
Wednesday 10.08.2011

There were two important fixtures in Division Three both with a bearing on the top positions. Derrytresk’s recent good run came to an end when they lost narrowly by a point to huge rivals Brockagh with the Emmetts edging it 1-12 to 1-11. However the score line makes the game appear much closer than it was as the winners were in control for almost all of the game.
Brockagh opened the scoring through Colm Mc Fall and added points through Cathal Donnelly, Ciaran Campbell and Michael Hughes before a Paul O’Neill goal on twenty minutes gave them a lead they were never to lose.Micky Rea landed two points for Derrytresk while another minor from Cathal O’Neill and a goal from ace forward Niall Gavin left the visitors a point down. The home side were ahead at the break 1-4 to 1-3 and extended their lead in the second half with Michael Hughes, Ciaran Donnelly, Justin Campbell and Paul O’ Neill all on target. With just over ten minutes remaining they led by seven points before Niall Gavin landed six late free to close the gap to a point but in truth Brockagh were comfortable winners.
Meanwhile Beragh Red Knights continued their recent improvement with a two point win over previously high flying Glenelly 0-12 to 1-7. Martin Rogers top scored for his side with 0-9 and although Beragh trailed at the break by a point 1-4 to 0-6, they came back well in the second half to win by two. Glenelly’s scorers on the night were Cathal Nicholas with 0-5, Kevin Mc Cullagh 1-0 and points each from Ronan O’Kane, Michael Nicholas and Conal Mc Cullagh while others on target for the Red Knights were Ediie Molloy, Niall Meenagh
