Minor Hurlers and Footballers Competing For Ulster Titles This Weekend

Both Tyrone Minor Hurlers and Footballers are in with a chance of lifting Ulster titles this weekend. The Hurlers travel to Clones this evening for a clash with Cavan in the Ulster Championship shield final with a 6:45pm throw in time. Less than twenty four hours later the footballers face Donegal in the Minor League final at Enniskillen with a 12 noon start for that one.

The Hurlers qualified for tonight’s final following a comprehensive victory over Louth last Friday evening in Garvaghey. However they know that they are up against a very talented Cavan side that have already beaten them twice this year most recently in the league final. That match was played on Cavan’s 3G pitch at Breffni Park and the Red Hand lads found the bounce of the ball difficult to cope with on the night. This time around they will be hoping for better luck on the splendid surface of Clones.

The Minor footballers also go into their final as underdogs against a highly talented Donegal side reckoned by many to be the best minor side to come out of the Tir Conaill County in almost twenty five years. Declan Bonner’s team has already beaten Tyrone in the league and strengthened by the returning players from St Eunan’s College they will fancy their chances of lifting the league crown.  Tyrone know they are up against it but with the championship only a few weeks away and injuries to key players clearing up they are well capable of upsetting the favourites.

Teamtalkmag.com will be bringing twitter updates from tonight’s hurling final and live commentary, broadband permitting, from the football on Saturday afternoon.
