Tyrone Junior champions Brackaville produced a superb team display to see off Cavan side Laragh United in the Ulster semi final at Clones on Sunday afternoon. Kieran Holland’s young side weathered a bit of a storm in the opening half as the bigger, stronger Cavan men used their physical superiority to good effect. However once team captain Cahir Mc Guinness had established a stranglehold around midfield there was only going to be one winner. Brackaville worked their socks off and produced some sublime football in very difficult conditions as the Clones pitch at times resembled an ice rink. The Tyrone lads had heroes all over the field from goalkeeper Damian O’Neill right through to corner forward Joe Rafferty but it truly was a team display and Brackaville comfortably made it through to the final on a 0-16 to 1-3 score line. There they will face Armagh champions An Port Mor in what is sure to be something of a local derby but The Owen Roes know that if they maintain their current form they are capable of beating any junior side in Ulster.
