Division three table toppers Brackaville got the Power NI Junior Championship off to a flying start with a 1-18 to 0-6 win over a very disappointing Drumragh side this evening in Cookstown. With perfect conditions for football and the venue in fantastic shape the large crowd assembled were hoping for a game to remember but after Brackaville scored their first half goal from Cahir Mc Guinness there was only going to be one winner. The Owen Roes dominated all facets of play and with midfielder Martin Gervin in fine form they were comfortable 1-7 to 0-3 leaders at the break with two of Drumragh’s three points coming from midfielders Gavin Quinn and Gareth Starrs.
Drumragh increased their performance levels in the second half and threatened briefly to close the gap but Brackaville reasserted themselves and hit eleven fine points with Gary Ferguson, Che O’Donnell and Sean Mc Nally all on target. The winners can now look forward to a first round proper meeting with Owen Roes of Leckpatrick but judging by tonight’s display they will take a bit of beating.
