Brackaville 2-16 0-19 Brocagh
An unanswered eight points in the final eight minutes of the opening half went a long way to securing Brackaville’s place in the last eight of the Connollys of Moy Tyrone Junior championship. The Roes defeated a spirited Brocagh side in Derrylaughan.
Brackaville played with the breeze blowing up from the Lough in the first half and despite conceding the opening score of the game to a Barry Donnelly effort the twin threat of Shea Fee and Dale McSorley proved to be a match winning duo. Fee levelled the game on 6 minutes and almost found the net moments later, but he was denied by Daniel Davidson. McSorley had no such problems running onto a McGlinchey pass to bury it past the keeper in the 9th minute.
Brocagh did frustrate the winners but following a two point free from McSorley the scores began to flow. Fee, McGlinchey all on target as Brackaville led 1-10 to 0-3.
Using wind advantage Brocagh went straight into attack in the opening minute of the second half, Mickey Hughes scoring a two pointer after the ball bounced over.
Brocagh had early second half goal chances but Brackaville keeper Sean Herron produced excellent saves to deny Conan McDonald and Owen Canavan in the 35th and 39th minute respectively.
Tiernan McGlinchey’s third of the afternoon left seven between the sides as the game entered its final quarter. A brace of Mickey Hughes frees narrowed the gap.
With ten remaining Brocagh’s Niall Cassidy picked up a black card for a foul on Ronan McHugh and McSorley converted the resultant free. The lead had stretched to eight before Mickey Hughes added a brace of two pointers from placed balls to half the deficit with six to go.
Brackaville then capitalised on the extra space as Daire Fee stretched through the middle to combine with McHugh before kicking to the net. Oisin Robinson picking up a black card in the build up.
Mickey Hughes continued to be in superb form kicking another couple of two pointers, to bring his tally to an outstanding 0-15, but time ran out on the Emmets and their championship hopes for the year. Brackaville doing enough to reach the quarter finals.
Brackaville scorers Dale McSorley 1-6, Shea Fee 0-4, Daire Fee 1-0, Tiernan McGlinchey 0-3, Tiernan Ruddy 0-1, Conor Stock 0-1, Ronan McHugh 0-1
Brocagh Mickey Hughes 0-15, James McKiver 0-1, Micheal Robinson 0-1, Cathal Donnelly 0-1, Barry Donnelly 0-1
