Dungannon and Brocagh took to the field on Sunday afternoon in the Junior championship semi-final in Killyman. Brocagh won the toss and decided to make use of wind advantage.  Dungannon got off to a flyer and within three minutes Pauline Barker picked out Cliodhna Colton who sent the sliotar to the back of the net.

From the puck out Brocagh’s Roisin O’Neill went straight up the field and narrowed the gap with a fine point. Dungannon looked the more determined early on and Colton was able to add to her tally with a well taken point from long range.

Lauren Fitzgerald in the Brocagh goals made some fine stops as Dungannon applied constant pressure. Roisin McErlean extended her team’s lead with a fine score. Faustina Canavan in the Brocagh midfield was having an impressive game and she was soon rewarded with a point from open play. Sheana Davidson narrowed the gap to two points shortly after as both sides worked hard all over the field.

An exchange of points between McErlean for Dungannon and Niamh McDonald for Brocach followed before McErlean increased her points count with an excellent score. The teams traded two further points when Sally McDonald and Colton scored to leave the score at the break Dungannon 1-5 Brocagh 0-6

Colton and McErlean added two points early in the second period before the weather took a turn for the worse and the rain made conditions almost impossible for the players.

A penalty for Brocagh with ten minutes remaining was converted by McDonald to narrow the game to a single point. The weather deteriorated further as the rain and wind intensified.

McErlean added a point from a free to extend their lead to two points and a point from 45 metres from Cora McNulty with five minutes to go proved decisive.

Dungannon had a player sent off shortly afterwards but despite the constant pressure Brocagh were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage and the game finished Dungannon 1-9 Brocagh 1-6.
