Match Report: All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship, Round 4
Tyrone 2-11, Laois 2-19
Tyrone’s bid for a semi-final place in the All-Ireland Premier Junior Camogie Championship is still alive—but hanging by a thread—following a spirited defeat to a clinical Laois side in Round 4 at Killyclogher.
Laois, with star forward Aimee Collier in scintillating form, proved just too strong for the Red Hands. Collier delivered a masterclass in scoring, finishing with a personal tally of 1-11, dictating the pace of the game from both open play and placed balls. Tyrone, to their credit, never gave up and were kept in the hunt largely thanks to a superb second-half performance from impact sub Roisin McErlean, who contributed 1-4, including three frees.
The first half was an exciting, fast-paced battle with momentum swinging both ways. Tyrone made the brighter start through early points from Grainne McDonald and Nicola McKiver. But Laois struck back in ruthless fashion—Collier’s goal and a brace of points from herself and Kaylee O’Keefe edged them in front. Tyrone stayed in the contest through scores from Reagan Fay and Catherine Moohan, while Beth Jones and Niamh Clarke impressed with their work rate and intelligent play.
Kirsten Keenan’s goal gave Laois further breathing room, but Tyrone dug deep. Aine Cunningham and Moohan kept the scoreboard ticking, and McKiver’s persistence earned a crucial goal just before the break, scrambling the ball over the line. A fine point from Jones cut the deficit to a manageable margin at half-time.
Half-time: Laois 2-8, Tyrone 1-7
After the break, Laois resumed in control. Collier continued her unerring accuracy from frees, punishing every Tyrone infringement. Yet Tyrone’s resilience remained intact. Moohan fired over from distance, and Rachel O’Neill chipped in with another point to keep them in touch.
McErlean’s introduction gave Tyrone renewed energy. The young forward was calm and clinical, nailing three frees before landing a late goal that sparked hopes of a comeback. But Laois’s greater squad depth showed in the closing stages. Points from Susie Delaney, Sarah Creagh, and substitutes Aoibheann Stynes and Meadhbh Bolger helped push them beyond reach. Collier added a final free, and Delaney’s closing score capped a deserved Laois victory.
Full-time: Laois 2-19, Tyrone 2-11
Scorers:
Tyrone:
Roisin McErlean (1-4, 3f), Nicola McKiver (1-1), Catherine Moohan (0-2), Grainne McDonald, Reagan Fay, Beth Jones, Aine Cunningham, Rachel O’Neill (0-1 each)

Tyrone now turn their attention to their final group match against Roscommon. Only a win will keep their slim hopes alive—and even that may not be enough. With other results now carrying weight, Tyrone will need both performance and fortune on their side to book a place in the semi-finals.
