The final piece of silverware of the year was up for grabs as Derrylaughan and Eglish senior Camogs took to a rain drenched field at Donaghmore on Sunday afternoon to contest the county senior shield.

Derrylaughan began the brighter side as Emma Fitzgerald landed the first point of the game inside the opening minute. Eglish shot a few wides before Oonagh O’Neill slotted home another point to extend the lead to two points.

The play was then concentrated in the Derrylaughan half when Eglish were awarded a penalty which Ciara Donnelly duly dispatched to the back of the net.

The wide count continued to rise for Eglish as Derrylaughan stood firm in defence.

The weather conditions worsened as the half progressed and both teams found it hard to keep their feet. Eglish added two points and a well taken goal from Donnelly to move ahead. Derrylaughan produced some great play when Emma McAliskey slipped a pass to Fitzgerald and a point resulted from this fine piece of play.

Rafferty struck a goal for Derrylaughan on the twenty five minute mark before three quick fire points for Eglish ended the half with the score reading Derrylaughan 1-03 Eglish 2-5.

The second half was a very one sided affair however and in spite of some great defending from Derrylaughan the scores just kept coming for Eglish. They scored two goals and twelve points in a very impressive second half with Derrylaughan only managing a solitary point.

The game ended with the scoreboard reading Derrylaughan 1-4 Eglish 4-17. It was a clean sweep of titles for the Eglish club at all age levels in 2015.

Both teams will now go on to represent their county in the Ulster championships in their respective grades. Pat Darcy, chairperson of Tyrone camogie, presented the winning plate to Eglish captain Ciara Donnelly. A well deserved player of the match award went to Derrylaughan’s Emma McAliskey.

The TCB would like to thank all the officials on the day and Donaghmore for the use of the pitch.
