CAMOGIE|Eglish Lift Minor Title.
Saturday 12.09.2015
Eglish camogs lifted the minor championship trophy on Friday evening at a very wet and blustery Naomh Colum Cille. It was a clean sweep of championship titles for the club as they added the final and fourth cup at youth level in 2015.
The poor weather took a turn for the worse as the half started and Eglish took full advantage. Enjoying considerable early possession they scored two quick fire goals within the first five minutes.
In terms of possession the game was even enough but Eglish were able to make their possession count and added another goal on the ten minute mark. Edendork then had a five minute spell where they added two points in quick succession.
Unfortunately the conditions deteriorated even further and the sliotar was hard to control as the game flowed from end to end. Eglish hit he net again on the twenty minute mark and just soon after two Edendork players received injuries which delayed the play for a short while. From then until the half time whistle the game fizzled out a bit and there were no scores registered for the final ten minutes of the half.
Half Time Eglish 4:0 Edendork 0:2
The heavy rain continued as the second half got under way. Eglish continued to dominate the game and landed a goal and two points within three minutes of the restart. In difficult conditions the game became scrappy but the scores kept coming for Eglish as they built a sizable lead.
Edendork did add two fine goals within five minutes of each other however it was not enough as the second half finished with a score-line Eglish 6:7 Edendork 2:3.
Joesphine McKeown of TCB presented Eglish captain Laura Mason with the winning trophy. Deirdre Fitzgerald presented the player of match award to Megan Vincent of Eglish.
Tyrone County Board would like to thank all the supporters who braved the conditions to support the girls. Thanks also to John Devlin for officiating and Naomh Colum Cille for the use of their pitch when yet again it was difficult sourcing a venue.
We wish Rachael Cassidy and Tara Donaghy of Edendork a speedy recovery after each received injuries in the first half.
