CAMOGIE | U-14 Championship Win For Eglish
Wednesday 09.09.2015
A pleasant evening on a perfect playing surface greeted Edendork and Eglish camogs for the under 14 championship final in Derrylaughan on Monday evening. The game got off to a frantic start with both teams quickly into their stride.
Eglish took the lead after ten minutes with a goal before quickly adding a point. The Edendork goalkeeper made some fine stops and recycled the sliotar well to keep her team in the game. It was Eglish applying all the pressure early on and they were rewarded with another point. This was a very open and competitive final with both sides going for every ball. Eglish added another goal before Edendork pulled back one of their one with a well worked move just before half time.
H.T Eglish 2-2 Edendork 1-0.
The second half turned out to be a bit of an exhibition match for Eglish such was their dominance. The Edendork goal keeper and defence were under constant pressure throughout the second half as the Eglish onslaught on their opponents’ goal continued right to the end. The girls in black ran out comfortable winners on a final scoreline of Eglish 7-4 Edendork 1-0.
Catherine Hanna on behalf of county board presented the winning trophy to Eglish captain Emma Muldoon. Edendork goal-keeper Momhaine McNamee was presented with a crested t-shirt from Emma McAliskey for player of the match.
Tyrone County Board would like to thank all of the officials and referee Siobhan McGrath. A big thanks to Derrylaughan for use of their excellent pitch and facilities on an evening when it was difficult to obtain a venue.
