Camogs Lose By Two But Hurlers Register Fine Win
Saturday 04.05.2013

Tyrone Camogs lost 2-6 to 2-4 against Carlow this afternoon in Mullingar but the county’s hurlers produced a committed second half display to defeat Louth 1-11 to 0-12 at Carrickmore. A goal in first half injury time from Kiefer Morgan completed a fine comeback and sent the home side in three points to the good at the break as they led 1-5 to 0-5. Damian Casey’s accuracy from frees helped the Red Hands keep in touch during a first half that saw them trail 0-4 to 0-1 after fifteen minutes with Louth’s opening four scores coming from the stick of Brian Corcoran. However Morgan’s goal gave Tyrone something to fight for and they produced a very determined second half to earn a two point win against a team that was widely tipped to win easily. The switching of Mike O’Gorman from corner back to the half forward line had a major impact on the turning of the game and his ability to win loose ball at key times proved the catalyst for many of Tyrone’s second half scoring chances.
