Tyrone senior Camogs travelled to Carlow on Easter Sunday to play their second National League fixture of the year. It was a bitterly cold day and both teams were forced to contend with a very strong and biting wind.
Tyrone had the elements in their favour in the first half but it was Carlow who were out of the blocks quickest as their strong midfield pairing dominated and controlled the play. The home side opened with three rapid fire points without reply. However Tyrone hit back with an excellent point from Aisling Corr. Shauna Jordan then broke clear and showed a clean pair of heels to her marker before slotting over a long range effort to further boost Tyrone’s confidence. Carlow responded again with another point of their own before Nimah McNulty scored a sublime point from open play. In the next piece of action Carlow scored a lucky goal and another point sent the two teams in at half time with the score line reading 1-4 to 0-3 in favour of the home side.

The second half was a very one sided affair as far as the scoreboard was concerned. Carlow hit point after point as they took full advantage of the conditions. Tyrone were strong in places but they always seemed to be second to every ball. Carlow ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-3. Its Cavan next week for Tyrone in what will be a crunch tie.
