There are reports coming from within Tyrone that one of the county’s favourite sons has returned to the fold and in doing so has given the Tyrone U21s prospects a major boost. It has been stated that former great Peter Canavan has joined their management team for 2015. Canavan, who captained the Red Hands to their maiden Sam Maguire triumph in 2003, was present at a training session on Tuesday night and it is believed that he has taken up an offer from U21 manager and former County team mate Fergal Logan to join the management team.

He links up with Logan and Tyrone’s other senior All Ireland winning captain Brian Dooher in what looks a potent coaching and managerial line up. It comes on the back of Tyrone appointing Peter Donnelly as strength and conditioning coach following a recent comprehensive review of their coaching structures.

Errigal Ciaran clubman Canavan led Cavan Gaels to a senior championship title in 2014 following spells in charge of Fermanagh and his own club. Peter of course played a major role in Tyrone’s best ever spell at U21 level when they played in three All Ireland finals in a row from 1990 to 1992 winning the title in the latter two years.
