Clinical finishing saw Cappagh collect the Tyrone Ladies Intermediate title at Dunmoyle. Terri McCusker finished with 1-6 as the West Tyrone side beat a dogged Ardboe 4-10 to 2-6. The contribution of McCusker, Naomi McAnulla and Clodagh Poyntz cannot be over-estimated, while at the back young Noleen Carland and Molly Keenan were outstanding.

Ardboe dominated the opening exchanges and raced into a 0-3 to no score lead with the impressive Rebekah Forbes and Kerrie Graham controlling things. By half time however Cappagh had turned things around as they reached the break leading 1-4 to 0-5. Clodagh Poyntz bagged the goal while Teri Mc Cusker was on target with a few points while Wylie and Forbes responded with Ardboe points. Meave Wylie ,who was later red carded, pulled her side right back into the tie with a rasping goal ten minutes into the second period but Cappagh turned on the style in a fine last quarter as Ashling Porter, McCusker and McAnulla rattled in goals.

Championship experiences from the past certainly helped Cappagh on this occasion as they remained composed and played a shrewd game throughout. Confidence abounded in the last ten minutes and star forward McCusker showed her range of skills adding further points from an assortment of angles.

Ardboe looked to have run out of ideas and steam and a late Forbes goal was all they could muster in a final difficult ten minutes for them.

Senior football beckons now for Cappagh but before that there is the challenge of Ulster where the bulk of this squad may feel they have some unfinished business. It certainly was a deserved victory for a new look Cappagh side with the cup being collected by skipper Emma Wallace.
