Carrickmore 2-21 Moortown 1-14
Carrickmore made light of the difficult conditions to qualify for the last eight of the Connollys of Moy Tyrone Senior championship, proving too strong for Moortown at a wet O’Neill Park.
A lively Carrickmore inside forward line proved too hot to handle with the recently returned Danny Fullerton helping himself to two first-half goals, one from the penalty spot. Lorcan McGarrity was also in sparkling form finishing with 0-7.
A dominant Carrickmore led 1-5 to no score at the end of the first quarter. Sean Kelly got Moortown up and running with a two pointer, but Fullerton’s second goal just before the second half whistle saw Carmen lead by ten at the break.
Moortown needed a quick start, but it was Carrickmore who hit the opening three points.
Moortown staged a mini revival with Ryan Kelly, Peter Devlin, and Rian Smith on Target, but the goal they needed never looked likely.
Carrickmore controlled the final quarter with scores from Tiernan Loughran, Cormac Munroe, and Niall Allison. It was fitting that Go Man of the match Daniel Fullerton got Carrickmore’s final two scores, bringing his total to 2-7.
Christopher McGuigan got a last-minute goal for Moortown, but that was their final involvement in this year’s championship.
