Carrickmore Ladies Ease To Intermediate Title

Carrickmore put Edendork to the sword as they claimed the Murphy’s Gloves Tyrone Intermediate title on Saturday at Greencastle on a final score of 4-16 to 1-7.

The teams exchanged early points with Clodagh Munroe and Maeve Maxwell on target for their respective sides. Carrickmore then hit a purple patch with Gemma Begley hitting the net twice and Clodagh Munroe also finding the net. With sixteen minutes of the first half gone Carrickmore led 3-5 to 0-1 and Edendork were up against it. Maeve Maxwell added two further points to the Edendork total  but Carrickmore finished the half on top with points from full forward Maedbh Me Elroy and Gemma Begley (2).

Edendork started the second half well with a goal from Nicola Murphy before Carrickmore responded with points courtesy of Begley and Claire Mc Gurk. The  pace of the game dropped somewhat but Clodagh Munroe, Megan Mc Cann and Aimee Fox continued to drive their team forward at every opportunity.

Lara Devlin and Clodagh Munroe swapped scores before Carrickmore added 1-4 without reply as they kept their opponents at arms’ length for the remainder of the game. Eve Loughran and Gemma Begley landed points before Megan Mc Cann burst through for her side’s fourth goal. Lara Devlin and Maeve Maxwell rounded off the scoring for Edendork before Claire Mc Gurk sent over the last score of the game to leave the result Carrickmore 4-16 Edendork 1-7.
