Carrickmore ladies made it an Intermediate league and championship double for the club following a convincing 4-9 to 1-10 win over a resolute Trillick side in the Division Two League Final at Clanabogan on Saturday.

The Reds got off to the perfect start with a goal and a point in the opening minutes with the goal the result of a fourth minute penalty superbly converted by Cathleen Kelly.

Carrickmore missed the chance to hit back immediately but team captain Gemma Begley’s fifth minute penalty was superbly saved by by Trillick goalkeeper Maura Barett. Clodagh Munroe and Aoife Seaney swapped points before goals from Claire Mc Gurk, Gemma Begley and Clodagh Munroe (2) put them in an unassailable position.

Trillick improved after the break and added seven points to their tally from Kelly (5), Emma Brennan and Dearbhaile Gallagher. Gallagher and Brennan were outstanding for their side all afternoon and their strong running created numerous chances for scores including coming incredibly close to hitting the net on three occasions.

However Carrickmore kept them at arm’s length and were more than deserving winners as they added the league title to their list of successes this year.
