Carrickmore are through to the semi finals of the Connolly’s of Moy senior championship after a high scoring quarter final between themselves and Edendork.

Noel Slane’s side made a strong start and by the midway point of the first half led 1-8 to 0-2. However Edendork finally shook off their early lethargy and reached the break four behind on a score line of 1-8 to o-7.

The second half was a fairly close affair but Carrickmore managed to keep their opponents at arm’s length throughout and progressed to the semi final where they will meet parish neighbours and great rivals Loughmacrory. The Loch defeated Donaghmore in the final quarter final of the weekend on Sunday evening.

Man of the Match Daniel Fullerton, who finished with 0-9, opened the scoring for Carrickmore before Colly Mc Crory finished a fine team move to the net. Points from Lorcan Mc Garrity and Fullerton established a significant lead for Carrickmore but Edendork finished the half strongly with five points unanswered points from Mc Curry (4) and Harry Óg Conlan to leave four between the sides at the break in favour of Carrickmore.

The second half was pacy, combative and highly entertaining. Conn Kilpatrick opened the scoring for Edendork before Carrickmore added points courtesy of Tiarnan Loughran and that man Fullerton. Both sides played on the front foot with excellent scores the order of the day. Edendork added points from Mc Curry, Conor Mallon and Stevie Corr but Carrickmore added three points of their own to make it a five point game.

Three further points from Mc Curry narrowed the gap to a single point as Edendork went in search of an equaliser leaving spaces in their defence. Carrickmore capitalised with some incisive play which resulted in Rory Donnelly finishing to the net to make it 2-13 to 0-15.  As the clock ticked down Mc Curry reduced the deficit to three points but Carrickmore outscored their opponents in the closing five minutes 0-4 to 0-2 and made it through to the last four on a score of 2-17 to 0-18.
